Salvia divinorum is a psychoactive mint native planet of Mexico having a long and continuing tradition of use as an entheogen by indigenous Mazatec shamans, who use it to facilitate visionary states of consciousness during spiritual healing sessions.

The plant is found in isolated, shaded, and moist plots in Oaxaca, Mexico. It grows to well over a meter in height. It has hollow square stems, large green leaves, and occasional white and purple flowers. It is thought to be a cultigen.

Salvinorin-A, the active ingredient of salvia divinorum, is considered to be the most potent, selective and naturally occurring hallucinogen when smoked, rivaling the potency of the synthetic hallucinogens like LSD.

Its effects are unique and cannot be compared with the effects of other drugs. The effects of Salvia do not appeal to many people.
