If your child is born premature; there are additional cares that you would have to take after he or she comes back home to make sure that they are always kept out of harm’s way. The bathing tips for a baby that are talked about in this article however are for a newborn baby who is not born premature. Bathing an infant in the right way is important and especially if you are a first time parent and have had no experience in parenting this can be quite a task.

Here are some tips to help you out.

Firstly, don’t ever leave your child alone in the bath. Leaving your child unattended even for a minute can be dangerous; whether you have an important phone call or someone at the door. If it is of great important just wrap the baby up in a towel and take her with you. The temperature of the water is very important; it should by no means be very hot because the sensitive skin of your child will not be able to endure the heat and might be dangerous for him.

The ideal temperature of the water should be around thirty six to thirty eight degree Celsius. For the first few months when your child is the most delicate, use a thermometer to check and be sure of the temperature. You will not need to fill the bath tub more than ten cm with water for your baby to bathe in, and filling more than that could be dangerous. A great thing to use for supporting your baby inside the tub is by placing a strong rubber mat at the bottom of the tub so that your child will not keep sliding and slipping and will make bathing less dangerous for your baby.

Women with increased risk of complications during pregnancy move to other town for the deliveries. Cancer patients are waiting for months for crucial diagnostic tests event the biggest cities are hardly meeting the present conditions. Other emergencies of the hospital are forced to shut down due to the load of the seasonal patients and the lack of the budget for the operations. People of U.S. in this situation are seeking for the affordable healthcare.

Such stories have become the common as people debating whether the government can support the public. Survey has been planned to get the opinion of the public about the future of healthcare.

In majority of developed countries government provide the free facility of the health but to avail these opportunities, people have to wait too long, especially for the cases of hip and knee replacement. Cancer patients suffer sever nervous stress when they wait for months to see specialist or undergo surgery. Emergency rooms start to overflow when the season of flu or any seasonal disease come.

The situation will get worse like all western countries as the population is aging and the requirements are increasing with the passing of each day. Expense of prescription drugs have reached to double within last five years.

There is a need to make system more efficient and spend more money to provide comfort to the people. Health experts providing the suggestions to categorize patient in the casual and wealthy group. Allow wealthy to choose more expensive treatment if they want to afford.

Many patients pay for their prescription drugs and visit the private clinic for the MRI and CT scan on the heavy cost for the quick results than the local hospitals. Private clinics are also providing cosmetic and plastic surgeries as well as the eye treatment.

The debate over private and public clinics have outdated, the need of the hour is a refined resolution to protect the basic needs for all the people equally avail the opportunity and have access to the healthcare system, which is one of the fundamental rights. Though it’s a tough task but with little effort in right direction can bring the difference.

When expecting women take, 30 minutes break for relaxing music each day, their stress and depression reduce dramatically, Taiwanese researchers said.

“Pregnancy is a unique and stressful period for many expectant mothers and they suffer anxiety and depression because of the long time period involved. Any intervention that reduces these problems is to be welcomed.” said Chen, National Cheng Kung University in Tainan.

Chen’s team divides 236 pregnant women in a music group and a group without music along with standard parental care. Women in the music group were free to enjoy music of their own choice for 30 minutes per day for two weeks; the music included classical, lullabies, nature sounds and children’s music.

At the start and end of the study, all pregnant women filled questionnaires on stress, anxiety and depression symptoms.

After completion, the researchers found that the women in the music group showed a significant improvement in all three symptoms, while stress, anxiety and depression scores remained virtually unchanged in the comparison group.

Music may provide “sensory input” that affects the nervous systems, which could pacify the physiological response to daily stress, according to Chen’s team.

Whatever is the mechanism, music may provide a simple, inexpensive and risk free way to control stress of pregnancy, researcher said.

“The value of music therapy is slowly being realized by nurses in a number of clinical settings,” Chen said, “and we hope that our findings will encourage healthcare professionals to consider it when treating pregnant women.”

It’s getting fame as the scientific community discovers more and more of the many extraordinary fish oil benefits.

Most of these health benefits of fish oil can be endorsed to the presence of Omega 3 essential fatty acids such as Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Other useful essential fatty acids include Alpha-linolenic acid or ALA and Gamma-linolenic acid or GLA.

The various kinds of fish which can be a rich source of fish oil are mackerel, rainbow trout, lake trout, halibut, herring, sardines, oysters, albacore tuna, tuna, turbot, pilchards, anchovies and salmon. The most famous names among these for obtaining fish oil are albacore tuna, herring, mackerel, sardines, lake trout and salmon.

The American Heart Association and some other groups recommend Omega-3s, the main fat found in fish and fish oil capsules, to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Fish oil not only reduces heart diseases but it also has number of beneficial effects on different organs of the human body which are as follows.

Heart Disease

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), clinical trials have proved that omega 3 is helpful in reducing the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Fish oil, which contain abundant omega 3, therefore, reduces the risk of heart diseases and maintain heart’s rhythm. It lowers the levels of lowdensitylipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, which is bad cholesterol, and increases the highdensitylipoprotein (HDL) levels, which is the good one. Fish oil not only prevents accumulation of triglycerides (TG) but also reduces the level of surplus TG. Preliminary research has shown that fish oil can also be used for the prevention of atherosclerosis in the patients of coronary heart diseases (CHD). Thus fish oil is effective for the treatment of strokes and regular usage of fish oil can be helpful to avoid several sudden cardiac arrests.

Weight Loss

Fish oil also aids in the process of weight loss. Research has shown that fish oil improves the efficacy of physical exertion in reducing weight. Participants who were given fish oil diet manifest grater loss of weight as compared to those who did not consume fish oil diet. Exercise in combination with fish oil had a synergistic effect on the body shape and composition of the patients.

Blood Circulation

It has been proven, that fish oil is capable of improving blood circulation along with reduction in TG and serum cholesterol levels.

Immunity

It is believed that, with regular use of fish oil immunity can be increased thereby enabling you to oppose against common diseases such as cold, cough and flu. Omega three fatty acids present in fish oil benefit the immune system by effecting cytokines and eicosanoids present in our body. Researchers have also studied the effect of fish meal and fish oil on the immune system of pigs and found that, fish oil aided in the growth of the animals. Fish oil is also helpful to patients of lupus, a disease characterized by the attacks of immune system of the body on various organs and tissues. Fish oil reduced the pain and inflammation that may occur in joints, eyes, kidney, heart, blood vessels, lungs, nerves, etc. It also protects against associated fever, skin rashes and fatigue.

Inflammation

Fish oil has an anti-inflammatory property, that’s why it is successful in reducing inflammation in blood and tissues. Patients of chronic inflammatory diseases can take the advantage of fish oil. It is effective in treating gastrointestinal disorders, sprue, short bowel syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) including Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis, which are typical associated with intestine disorder. Patients suffering from Crohn’s disease have difficulty in absorption of vitamins, fats and essential supplements. In ulcerative colitis, fish oil inhibits the accretion of leukotriene on the colon. It should be noted that the anti inflammatory characteristic of fish oil is limited to reducing inflammation. Fish oil provides mild to moderate effect in preventing inflammation.

Alzheimer’s Disease

Research conducted at the Louisiana State University has proven that fatty acids are efficient in treating Alzheimer’s disease. Since fish oil is one of the best sources of essential fatty acids including EPA and DHA, it helps in Alzheimer disease. Researcher said that, fish provide higher content of omega three fatty acids to patients as it acts as a protective diet during Alzheimer disease and dementia.

Eye Disorders

It is well known that fish oil is good for its ability to improve vision as it contains vitamin A and E. It also helps in avoiding age related macular degeneration.

Skin Care

Fish oil improves the condition of poor and dry skin by making it shinny and glowing. It is useful in treating skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, itching, skin lesions, rashes and redness of skin. In case of psoriasis, the EPA in fish oil restricts the growth of pro-inflammatory agents by producing arachidonic acid. Fish oil can also be applied topically to obtain relief from psoriasis. Regular intake of fish oil capsules helps to retain the moisture of skin.

Pregnancy

Fish oil is highly useful for pregnant women as DHA present in it helps in the development of the eyes and brain of the baby. It may avoid premature births, low birth weight and miscarriage. Research conducted in Denmark, concluded that diet with poor amount of fish resulted in higher risk of premature or preterm babies. Moreover, when pregnant women use fish oil, the born offspring show better coordination between eye and hand. Thus it is essential to consume fish oil in any form during pregnancy for the overall development of the child and well being of the mother. However, cod liver oil, should not be used during pregnancy as it is rich in retinol and vitamin A.

Use with caution

Although fish oil can provide the same benefit as far as Omega-3 fats is concerned. If you do not have any heart disease, 2 or 3 portions of fish a week will fulfill the needed omega-3s, 2 grams a week. If you already have had a cardiovascular episode, you can add some capsules of fish oil to your diet but do not exceed 1 gram a day of Omega-3s.

The perinatal deaths and adverse consequences related to assisted fertilization (AF) with compare to spontaneous pregnancy could be associated with the causes of infertility rather than the procedure of AF, according to an article published July 31, 2008 in “The Lancet.”

Women of developing countries are delaying childbirth till the age of infertility is about to strike. Consequently, most of them are adopting the assisted reproductive technologies to conceive. High risk of adverse health outcomes in infants has been associated with the assisted fertilization, but it is hard to differentiate between the effects of the procedure itself from the effects, that might be inherent in the birthing couple.

To differentiate between these two effects, reasearchers performed a population-based group study, selecting women older than 20 who had one singleton pregnancy and one after AF. Then infants were examined for birth weight, gestational age, premature birth, and perinatal deaths from 2,546 Norwegian women over 20. These results were compared with rates in 1,200,922 single birth controls and 8,229 AF controls.

It showed that AF conception was related to:

lower average birth wight by 25 g

shorter gestation period by 2.0 days

26 percent elevated risk of being undersized for gestational age

31% percent risk of perinatal death.

Women in whom, factors, other than AF were controlled i.e. the women who had conceived both spontaneously and by AF, the AF babies had:

a lower average birth weight by 9 g

a shorter gestation period by 0.6 days

a similar risk of being undersized for gestational age

a 200 percent increased risk of perinatal death.

The researchers conclude that “Birthweight, gestational age, preterm delivery and risks for short gestational age, did not differ among infants of women who had conceived in both ways. The adverse outcomes of assisted fertilization that we noted compared with those in the general population could therefore be attributable to the factors leading to infertility, rather than to factors related to the reproductive technology.”

The study is the largest of its own type, and gives the most latest and detailed information to date on birth defects that occur to infants of diabetic mothers, including heart defects, omitted kidneys and spine disfigurement.

Nearly 40 types of birth defects enlisted during study, which found to be considerably more common in the infants of diabetic mothers than normal or who were diagnosed with diabetes after conceiving.

The study’s list of diabetes-associated birth defects is astounding. It is much longer than was previously understood, said Janis Biermann, senior vice president for education and health promotion at the March of Dimes.

“It adds more information about the specific types of birth defects associated with pre-gestational diabetes and gestational diabetes,” he added.

Birth defects affect one out of 33 babies born in the U.S, and cause around one in five infant deaths. Causes of most birth defects are not known but some risk factors may involve including obesity, alcohol, smoking, infections, gestational and pre-gestational diabetes.

From decades, doctors know about the threat diabetes poses to pregnancies. Previous research has focused on threats to the infant by the excessive amounts of glucose (sugar) circulating in the womb of a diabetic mother. Studies upon rats and mice have clearly shown that high sugar level harms fetal tissue development, said Dr. E. Albert Reece, a study co-author and dean of the University of Maryland school of Medicine, who directs birth defects research there.

The study concentrated on the 13,000 births involving a major birth defect, in comparison with nearly 5,000 arbitrarily selected healthy births from the same locations.

Mothers were asked if they had been diagnosed with diabetes before or during their pregnancy. The researchers said those who were diagnosed during pregnancy either had pregnancy-induced condition called gestational diabetes or had undiagnosed pre-pregnancy diabetes.

The study found that in 93% of birth defect diabetes was not involved. About 2 percent of the infants with single birth defects were born to mothers who had pre-pregnancy diabetes. About 5 percent of the children with more than one defect were born to mothers with same condition. The percentage of healthy births was much lower in those mothers who were diabetic before pregnancy.

“Diabetes is not discriminating” in which birth defects it’s linked to, said Dr. Adolfo Correa, a CDC epidemiologist who was the study’s lead author.
