Infection of toenail fungus may take few days to several months to get cured depending on the severity of the infection. This fungal infection leads to the discoloration of the nails from yellow to black, as per severity of the infection.

This color of the nail depends on the specie of the fungus that has attacked. In combination with discoloration, the infection can also lead to cracking and harsh pain of the toenail.

Through many ways you can inhibit the intrusion of the fungi that can cause infection. Either preventing or cutting the interaction of the fungus with skin or nails can greatly reduce the risk of infection. This same principle is useful for all the body to avoid fungal infection.

There are number of preventions that you can make to avoid accumulation of the fungi, especially in the toenails.

The first thing to prevent fungal infection is the hygiene. After returning back to home, it is good to take off your tight shoes and wash hand and feet with warm water and soap to flush out all the microbes.

You should wear pours sandal before going out as this act as a barrier for the fungi. Wash your sandals with intervals to eliminate the dust particles. Do not wear tight shoes because these kinds of shoes cause excessive perspiration and provide the condition which is perfect for the growth of the fungus. Loose footwear let the skin of foot breath and prevents the chance of infection.

During the toenail fungal treatment, it necessary to keep your feet dries to avoid the colonization of the fungi. After shower dry your feet thoroughly with dry cloth to avoid presence of humidity. Stagnation of moisture between the toe fingers is the ideal habitat for the fungi.

Last but not least, yet not clinically proven but on the basis of people experiences, healthy diet can play a vital role to fight infection. Use of curd and sufficient intake of vitamin C in combination with probiotics has synergetic effects.

Don’t delay in treating the toenail fungal infection as this can get worse in the later stages. This can smudge your beauty and could cause unbearable pain with stinking smell. Contact your doctor as soon you develop any sign of the toenail fungus, the doctor can guide you for the better treatment.

WASHINGTON – Infections may force premature birth, says a new study that found one out of seven women in pre-term labor invaded bacteria or fungi in their amniotic fluid. This small study does not prove that the germs provoke the early labor.

But Monday’s research used specialized lab tests to find out microbes, which missed by ordinary methods, and exposed more women with prevalent infections than previously estimated.

The intensity of infection increases the chances of a woman to deliver underweight, sicker baby, researchers reported.

“We don’t think any organisms belong in the amniotic sac,” said Dr. David Relman, the study’s author. “You’d have to assume there’s something wrong.”

Around one million babies are born premature per year, yet doctors are unaware of the cause of most preterm births. Those born before 32 weeks suffer the greatest risk of mortality or severe disabilities.
Vaginal or urinary tract infections (UTI) are well-known to raise the risk of premature birth, apparently by causing inflammation that consecutively triggers labor.

But infections play how much role, particularly those that don’t cause superficial symptoms, has been a key question, said Dr. Michael Katz, who wasn’t part of the new study.

So the Stanford team tried a different school of thought.

They collect saved samples of amniotic fluid of women who had preterm labor at a Detroit hospital between 1998 and 2002. Around 15 percent of the women infected with bacteria or fungi, and those who did all delivered prematurely. Relman used more advance testing known as PCR to find and reproduce bits of genetic material from germs. By adding PCR tests, 56 percent more infected women detected than standard testing.

“It’s a very, very important first step, but there are still many hurdles” the researchers said.

Now researchers are trying to know that, can harboring germs predicts who will go into preterm labor? Now Relman’s team is studying 2,000 women who get routine amniocentesis in their second trimester, to answer that.

If so, then the questions will arise, where those germs instigate, whether there’s a simple way to find who’s at risk, and if there’s any treatment that might help.

According the website statement of the company, after seven cases of E. coli infection in Massachusetts and two in Pennsylvania were linked to the product, they recall affects of ground beef sold by Whole Foods.

Whole Foods said this “beef apparently came from Coleman Natural Beef, whose Nebraska Beef processing plant was previously subject to a nationwide recall for E. coli 0157:H7 contamination.”

This second batch of potentially E. coli-tainted ground beef from Nebraska Beef involves relatively modest quantities purchased by Whole Foods Market, said the spokesman of the supermarket chain.

“Whole Foods has begun an internal inquiry after receiving assurances from Coleman Natural Beef that no product delivered to Whole Foods Market was linked to the (previous) recall of Nebraska Beef products”, company spokesperson Libba Letton said.

She told that all tests conducted with the recalled Whole Foods ground beef so far have not detected any E. coli infection.

E. coli bacteria can produce nausea, diarrhea and potentially lethal kidney problems, particularly threatening people with weak immune systems such as the elderly and babies.

In the United States, probable 73,000 cases of E. coli infection arise each year, and almost 60 of those ending in death, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
