It would be a remarkable finding if it could be turn out to do the same functions in human beings to avert this devastating disease worldwide.

The researchers were surprised to notice when an amalgam called glcerol monolaurate (GML) was used as a gel in vagina, the diffusion of the nonhuman monkey version of HIV, known as SIV, was took place.

They are thinking that if GML is used as a topical microbicide, it can be helpful to prevent HIV, and millions of lives could be saved from this terrible virus.

But they further said that it could not be taken to cure the disease rather it would require more trials to be proved secure and efficient in human beings.

It was observed that when monkeys were being applied by this vaginal GML, it was found working against a number of microbes and toxins along with the blockage of the chemokines and cytokines molecules known to spark off the immune responses.

To arrest this natural immune response would be a vital step to stop the transmission and rapid multiplication of the destructive bacteria.

This GML vaginal gel has the capability to inhibit HIV transmission in women, the researchers hoped. But they also added that there should be a lot of experiments and study to be done in this area before GML can be directed to be used securely and successfully in women to preclude HIV infection.

The further study will be comprised of more trials on animals and the secure ways of delivering the medication to the women.
