Researchers have long been predicted that favorite music of the person can bring people to the flashback, but now the scientists have founded the part of the brain in which all this mechanism occurs.

Pre-frontal cortex is a part of the brain, situated right behind the forehead. This part of brain act like a host and stored all the memories like dancing and singing.

When we heard the familiar music, it works as a soundtrack that starts a movie in our mind. It recalls the memories related to a situation, person or place and you can immediately see the image in front of you.

Janata began was suspecting that pre-frontal cortex is a process of music and its related memories. Then during the experiment he observed that this portion was actively following the rhythm of the music. This same region, in response to the self reflection, illuminates and reminds the autobiography.

For his study he selected 13 UC-Devis student, which undergo an fMRI scan of the brain and meanwhile 30 songs played from years when the subject were 8 to 18 years old. These sample music trigger the autobiographical memory and scientist captured that signals.

“This is the first study of its own kind, which is using the music to recall autobiographical memory.” Janata said.

The students also provide the details of their memories related to the sample music, most of the subjects recognize least 17 songs, and many of them have the strong memories link to their lives.
